Rwanda Cyimbili
Rwanda Cyimbili
Cyimbili is located in Rutsiro, a district of the Western Province of Rwanda. The coffee farms overlook Lake Kivu and the land is stewarded by Celestin Musekura, who grew up among the Cyimbili coffee trees that became abandoned in the aftermath of the tragic Rwanda Genocide of 1994. He founded the African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministry (ALARM) with a dream to restore the coffee of Cyimbili as a living witness to the restoration of hope. ALARM renewed the farm in 2009 and has been working with Saint Frank and Bonaventure, our long-time partner, since 2014 to make that dream a reality and we don't take it lightly that we are able to serve this coffee.
The coffee cherries undergo a 48-hr anaerobic fermentation period before being fully washed and dried for processing. The coffee is pleasantly round in its sweetness with a great body and a lemon tea finish.
